Local athletes competed on the SUNY Oneonta baseball team this spring.

Nearly 140 SUNY Oneonta students presented original research and creative projects at the college's 2017 Student Research and Creative Activity Day on April 12.

Twelve SUNY Oneonta students were selected to receive the 2017 College at Oneonta Foundation Awards for Excellence in Student Research & Creative Activity.

Seven students represented SUNY Oneonta at the third annual SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference, held April 21-22.

A total of 14 new members were inducted into the SUNY Oneonta Alpha-Kappa-Iota chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honor society, during a ceremony on April 7.

Twenty-nine SUNY Oneonta students were inducted into SUNY Oneonta's chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the National Health Preprofessional Honor Society, this semester.

A total of 192 students received the SUNY Oneonta 2016-2017 Susan Sutton Smith Award for academic excellence. To be eligible for the award, a student must be a freshman, sophomore or junior with a grade-point average of 3.9 or higher. Student award winners receive a certificate, a gift card to the campus bookstore, and an invitation to attend the annual Susan Sutton Smith Lecture and reception. Dr. Florian Reyda, professor of biology, will deliver this year's Susan Smith Lecture titled, "Parasites, Evolution and Us," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, in the Otsego Grille of the Morris Conference Center on campus.

SUNY Oneonta recognized 35 student athletes by inducting them into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society, during a luncheon held on April 6. To qualify for induction a student athlete must have achieved at least junior standing with a cumulative 3.4 grade point average while earning a varsity letter in an NCAA intercollegiate sport. Each student athlete must also be of good moral character and have the endorsement of his/her coach and the Chapter President.

Eleven SUNY Oneonta students spent their spring break volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in Vero Beach, Fla.

Six SUNY Oneonta wrestlers were named to the ECWC All-Academic Team.

10 field hockey players have earned academic honors from the NFHCA.

Sophomore Takoda Sitar was selected as the Pitcher of the Week in the SUNYAC.

Senior Lawrence Coleman was selected to the All-SUNYAC first team in men's basketball.

Loyola University Maryland has announced the members of its fall 2016 Dean's List. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must achieve a minimum QPA of at least 3.500 for the term, provided that, in the term they have successfully completed courses totaling a minimum of 15 credits.

SUNY Oneonta senior Matt Beitscher attended the 97th American Meteorological Society (AMS) Annual Meeting in Seattle from Jan. 22-26, 2017. More than 4,400 scientists, educators, students and other professionals from across the weather, water and climate community came together to share, learn and collaborate.

More than 300 students met requirements for graduation from SUNY Oneonta following the Fall 2016 semester. Graduates were honored at a December recognition ceremony hosted by College President Nancy Kleniewski and held in the Dewar Arena of the Alumni Field House. They also are eligible to participate in the college's commencement on May 13.

The following students were named to the Dean's List at Paul Smith's College during the fall 2016 semester. Each earned a semester average of 3.3 or higher to receive this distinction.

Nearly 70 SUNY Oneonta students helped launch a new service-learning partnership aimed at getting local elementary school children excited about growing their own food.

SUNY New Paltz announces its Dean's List for the fall 2016 semester, a recognition for students who excel academically and earn at least a 3.3 grade-point average in a semester with a full-time course load.

Select students have been named to the Fall 2016 Dean's List at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester.

A total of 200 SUNY Oneonta students earned Provost's List honors for the fall 2016 semester. To qualify for the Provost's List, a student must earn a perfect 4.0 grade-point average while carrying a course load of 12 hours or more.

The following students have been named to the Champlain College Dean's List for achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher in the fall 2016 semester.

A total of 1,515 SUNY Oneonta students earned Dean's List honors for the fall 2016 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher while carrying a course load of 12 hours or more.

SUNY Canton students receive Part Time Honors for their academic success during the fall 2016 semester.

Clarkson University has announced recipients of endowed, sponsored, and Share Clarkson scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic year.

A total of 39 SUNY Oneonta students are studying abroad this spring through semester-long and academic-year programs in 13 countries. SUNY Oneonta offers study abroad and exchange programs in Finland, Ghana, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, South Korea, Sweden, Taiwan and the United Kingdom through the Office of International Education, plus international internship opportunities and short-term, faculty-led field courses abroad.
